I grew up in a small town in Eastern Kansas where I learned there is more to the Christian life than just attending church. While in high school I sensed God calling me into full-time pastoral ministry. I began my training at Moody Bible Institute and along the way God brought my wife Tammy into my life and we were married in 1989. A year later we headed to Portland, OR to study at Western Seminary.  

One thing Tammy and I knew was that we were called to minister in the Midwest. I have pastored EFCA churches in Nebraska and Iowa. For the last 18 years we have been in the Miller, SD area, first as the Bible Teacher at Sunshine Bible Academy and then for almost 8 years as the Family Life Pastor in St. Lawrence, SD.  

Ephesians 4:12 states: “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” I am passionate about helping others to love God and each other deeper, and to be equipped to minister to the world around them.

When Jesus called to the original 12 disciples "Come Follow Me" I'm so thankful that His invitation was extended to include me as well! As a teen, I heard His voice and said “yes” to following Him wherever he would lead. Along with that call to salvation, He also placed within me an abiding desire to help build His church by seeing the lost come to know Him and the saved come to cherish Him!

It's been my privilege over the past 25+ years to serve the body at New Life Church through the worship ministry and now also as a Pastor of Adult Discipleship.

Ephesians 4:11-16 has been a guiding "life verse" for me as I work to see Christ's body coming alive and maturing in Him as each member realizes their gifting and becomes equipped to for the work of ministry!

I am passionate about God and His Word. Everything we do in youth ministry is centered around growing in our love, service, and praise of our Lord Jesus Christ. I love challenging young men and women to live out a biblical worldview as ambassadors for Christ. In 2021, I started my journey in full-time ministry after being a teacher for 9 years in Baltimore. My wife Becky and I have three children.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Janet's days here at New Life are spent communicating with our many children's ministry volunteers and making sure everything is in place so they can spend their time building relationships and discipling the kids that God brings our way on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Janet and her husband, Todd, have two daughters and a fluffy dog named Ollie.

LEZLIE EVEN

MINISTRY ASSISTANT

Lezlie has been faithfully serving at New Life since 2003. She has done a little bit of everything over the years, but she currently serves as an assistant to our pastors and ministry leaders and also partners with our church treasurer to manage the financial side of our ministries. Lezlie enjoys spending time in her yard and garden and being with her family.

Sherry and her husband, Dave, have been a part of New Life Church since they moved to Watertown in 2003. She began serving on staff in 2012 and watches over the church calendar and the New Life communications - printed items, digital graphics, emails, website.
