This Week at New Life

Sunday, December 4, 2022

In the Gospel of John we are going to go in-depth and look at the single most amazing human (God-man) to ever walk the face of this earth, Jesus Christ. Throughout this study in John we are going to be encouraged, shocked, convicted, and left with a deep sense of awe in regards to Jesus of Nazareth. The deepest yearnings of our soul will only be satisfied by the truths that we find in this book. Invite your family, friends, colleagues and join us as we gaze intently at the One who created the world and yet loved us enough to die for us.

Sunday Worship Services at 9:00am & 11:00am

Nursery care for children 0-2 is available all morning. Children’s Church is offered during the 11:00 service for kids age 3-5.

Sunday School for all ages | 10:15-11:00am

Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart…
— Jeremiah 15:16

Last Spring Pastor Michael led us through a study in our adult Sunday school class about the dangers of Progressive Christianity. It was disturbing, to say the least, yet served as a wakeup call for the church to remain vigilant and faithful to the Word of God. All around us we witness what happens when a person or society abandons the authority of the scriptures and replaces it with a postmodern, “anything goes” spirituality. I’m convinced more than ever that we need to become a people of the Book, God’s inspired, infallible book, the Bible!

Join us each Sunday this fall as we gather to learn:

  • What it means when we say that the Bible is inspired and inerrant.

  • How people preserved the text of the Bible over the centuries. Can the process be trusted?

  • What is the canon of scripture and why some books were chosen and others rejected?

  • What about the Apocrypha and the Dead Sea Scrolls?

  • We’ll get to know some of the “Church Fathers” and other key figures in church history and the role they played in helping us have the Bible in our own English language.

  • Most importantly we will learn how to truly study, or as Jeremiah says, how to eat your Bible!

Two-week Adult Class - Dec 11 and 18

Do Miracles Still Happen Today?

Today we hear more and more discussion about miracles but unfortunately there is quite a bit of confusion when it comes to understanding what the Bible teaches about this topic.

We will ask and answer questions like these:

  • Do miracles happen today?

  • Why are there fewer miracles today?

  • What are the greater miracles promised by Jesus?

Since we are going through the Gospel of John and we are learning about the miracles of Jesus this topic is particularly relevant for us. Hope you will join us for this two week class!

Connection Cards

We have Connection Cards available on the backs of the chairs in the sanctuary. Guests can fill them out and take them to the Info Center for a free gift. Anyone can use them to submit prayer requests, request more information about ministries, update personal contact information, ask a question, or give feedback. Cards can be dropped into the offering boxes at the entrances to the sanctuary.

We are partnering with Roosevelt School to provide gifts for families that might need a little help this Christmas. If you’d like to purchase gifts for a child, you can pick out a tag from the tree in the foyer that has the child’s age, sizes, gift ideas, and favorites. Gift items need to be returned to New Life unwrapped by Sunday, December 18.

The gifts will be wrapped later, so if any of the items need a box you could include that to make the wrapping easier.

We have advent books for families available in the hallway across from the nursery!

Stop by on Sunday and pick one up.

New Life Church family,

As your pastors we want to let you know that we truly consider ourselves blessed to be able to serve you. God has been so good to us, and He used you during Pastor's appreciation month to bless us and our families.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, gifts, cards and most importantly your prayers! It's nice to know that we are loved and that what we do is making a difference in the lives of those who call New Life Church their home.

We love you all!

Pastors Michael, Glenn and Billy

We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
— I Thessalonians 1:2-3

New Women’s Study

Tuesday mornings | 5:45am at New Life | beginning January 24

How can we hold onto assurance of our faith? How can we discern the truth from a lie? How can we know God loves us? In these three short letters, the apostle John reminds an early church facing division, deception, and doubt to hold fast to what they know and to live like they believe it. And he reminds us, as well. In this 10-session Bible study on the letters of 1, 2, and 3, John, Jen Wilkin helps you see how two thousand years later, his words call to Christians in similar challenges to recall a great salvation and to abide in the truth.

Call the church office (886-1977) or email Sherry (sherryd@newlifeefree.org) if you’d like us to order a book for you.

Each month, we will be highlighting a missionary or organization that is supported by New Life. We encourage you to be praying for them and also learning more about how God is working through them in their area of ministry.

Opportunity to serve our Youth…

Each Wednesday we end our youth group evening with a snack and time to hang out together after their small group time. People from our New Life family have been providing snack for us - either homemade or picked up at a store. The students really enjoy this time! If you would like to bring a snack you can sign up using the button below (the sign up is near the bottom of the page), or call the church office (886-1977) and we can help you get signed up.
